Two Pattonville students advance in SkillsUSA competition

Pattonville High School senior Dannielle Henderson and junior LaMiyah Martin won medals at the Missouri Association of SkillsUSA East District competitions held at Ranken Technical College and St. Louis Community College. Both students attend North Technical High School and will advance to the state championships that will take place March 30 to April 1.

Henderson, a senior at Pattonville High School, attends North Technical High School in the afternoon. She earned a third place medal in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) category.

“Danielle is an amazing young lady who excels at everything,” HVAC instructor Matt Adams said. “She is a part of the Ameren and Spire programs and both hope to hire her in the future. Danielle is going to attend McKendree for her business degree after high school. Her plan is to hopefully work for Ameren after she graduates from college. Danielle has also received a full ride to McKendree for bowling!”

Martin is a Pattonville High School junior and a cosmetology student at North Technical High School in the morning. She placed second in the Customer Service competition.

“LaMiyah is a self-motivated, energetic, outgoing, and hardworking student,” cosmetology instructor Jennifer Burns said. “She is eager to help out anytime and is a natural in the industry. She is just a junior so she is still working on her master plan for the future.”

The State Leadership & Skills Conference will be held March 30 to April 1 at State Technical College of Missouri  in Linn, Missouri.
