Dear Pattonville families and staff,
During the Feb. 8 school board meeting, the Pattonville Board of Education reaffirmed its COVID-19 plan and established a timeline to return to a mask-optional environment.
As a reminder, the school board on Dec. 14 approved transitioning to mask optional on Jan. 3, however, the next day, the St. Louis County Council voted to enact a new mask mandate in St. Louis County. Based on legal guidance, the district’s mask optional policy was paused until more information was known regarding the impact of the county order on schools.
Based on updated legal guidance associated with the St. Louis County mask order as it relates to schools, the district will resume it’s full COVID-19 plan, including transitioning to mask optional for students and staff, on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The district will continue to monitor individual school COVID-19 positivity rates. If an individual school’s positivity rate reaches 2% (students and staff combined), all individuals in the school will be required to wear masks for two weeks. If the school positivity rate is below the 2% threshold after two weeks, optional masking returns. If after two weeks the school positivity rate continues to be 2% or higher, individuals will be required to wear masks for an additional week or until the school positivity rate is below 2%.
These strategies will remain in effect unless or until they are modified, extended or rescinded by the Pattonville Board of education.
I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we work through these evolving events. Our focus has been and will always remain on ensuring our schools are open for student learning and keeping everyone safe. Thank you for all you do to support our students and their learning.
Sincerely,
Tim Pecoraro, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
