Pattonville High School has been recognized as a 2022-2023 Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Distinguished School. It is one of just 262 high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW (Computer Science, Biomedical Science, Engineering). PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of pre-K through 12th grade students and teachers in more than 12,200 schools across the U.S. This is the fourth time and third straight year Pattonville has received this award.

Students at Rose Acres Elementary School had a school-wide fitness goal of completing 23,600 laps on the PACER test which would cover the distance from the school to the Gateway Arch. The landmark goal before that was to complete 22,400 laps which got them to Busch Stadium. Last week, Fredbird surprised the students and was on hand to celebrate with them at the Pirate PACER Party assembly.
 
The objective of the PACER is to run as long as possible while keeping a specified pace. Students run back and forth across a 20-meter space at a pace that gets faster each minute. A lap is scored for each 20-meter distance covered and in September, students had a school-wide total of 3,821 laps which got them to Aquaport.

It’s Staff Appreciation Week 2023. Pattonville School District shared videos of the Teacher and Support Staff of the Year finalists at District Appreciation Night where Drummond Elementary School fourth grade teacher Brittany Garcia was announced as the district’s teacher honoree and Pattonville Early Childhood Center physical therapist Jenny McDowell was named the district support staff recipient.

Yearbook distribution begins Tuesday, May 16 during all lunches at the concession stand in the commons. A list of students who purchased a yearbook is posted outside the concession stand and outside room B110. Limited copies will be available for purchase during distribution for $70 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

On May 11, four Pattonville High School student-athletes signed letters of intent to attend and play sports in college. These signings come following National Signing Day on Feb. 1, where 17 other Pattonville seniors also signed with colleges. Students who signed on May 11 were: 
  • Kaylee Cofer, Lindenwood University, dance; 
  • Tyler Floyd, Central Methodist University, baseball; 
  • Laura Rockwell, Missouri Western State University, dance; and 
  • Paige Rowland, Fontbonne University, volleyball.

The 16th annual Pattonville Area-Wide Middle School Book Battle was held on May 9 at Pattonville Heights Middle School with 25 teams. Holman Middle School, Pattonville Heights Middle School and Remington Traditional School each had a team competing at the event. 

The team from Parkway South Middle School won the Book Battle with Ladue Middle School and Parkway West Middle finishing in second and third place, respectively. 

The book battle gives middle school students in the St. Louis area the opportunity to meet and discuss current books of interest. The Area-Wide Book Battle Committee creates a list of 20 books that includes a variety of genres and reading levels.
