Physics students get "eggs-cellent" learning opportunity

Junior Lucas Gerst constructed an “airbag” type contraption using momentum and impulse concepts he learned in Erin Mulanax’s Physics class. 

The purpose of the lab was to protect an egg from cracking or breaking when dropped from the top of the stairs to the swimming pool spectator area. 

Gerst spent two full nights working on his design.

“I was a little scared the egg might slip out of the protective pyramid I built, but it was fine and everything stayed together,” he said. 

Gerst and Bartholomew (that’s what he named his egg) earned all 15 points for passing the “airbag” test.

Pattonville needs scorekeepers for the Heights Middle School basketball program on Mondays from 4-6pm!

Any current 11th grade students interested in taking the Missouri Personal Finance EOC Assessment to earn their personal finance credit will need to register by February 9th.  The EOC will be given on February 16th after school.  Information and registration is on the Pattonville High School website under Personal Finance Assessment.  If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Martinez.

 

 

The Fiber Arts Club will meet during contact time in Ms. Mulanax’s room E206 this Thursday, Jan 26 th . We’re going to take some club pictures! Come by before then to get a pass.

2022 Virtual Science Fair

Join us by participating in the 2022 Virtual Science Fair.  This year students will present their scientific findings in an electronic format.  Or new this year, you can take part in the Research Paper Division.  Also new this year, all projects must be approved by the School Science Coordinators prior to beginning the projects.  Projects will be judged and are eligible for awards.  Finalist will be able to register for the Virtual St. Louis Area Science Fair.  Your WB Science Coordinators have created the following site to assist you in getting started:  WB Virtual Science Fair

You can submit your Research Plan for project approval starting January 23rd and final projects must be turned in by March 1st. Please review the website link for answers to your questions or contact information for rather inquiries.
