Pattonville High School modern language teachers Shelley Christian and Dr. Silvia J. Hilker were nominated as a Hero Teacher by 2019 graduate and current Truman State University student Emily Johnson. 

Johnson spoke very highly of her former teachers and her experience at Pattonville High School and said that their great teaching is one of the main reasons why she continues to study language in college and is considering a teaching career.

On April 29, Dr. Dan Doman, chair of the Classical & Modern Languages department at Truman State University, and Johnson met with several modern language classes at Pattonville High School on Zoom for a virtual visit and to answer student questions.

The Area-Wide Middle School Book Battle was held on May 4 at Pattonville Heights Middle School with 20 in-person teams and six that joined virtually. Holman Middle School, Pattonville Heights Middle School and Remington Traditional School each had a team competing at the event. 

The team from Nipher Middle School won the Book Battle edging Ladue Middle School with a tie-breaker question. 

The book battle gives middle school students in the St. Louis, Missouri, area the opportunity to meet and discuss current books of interest. The Area-Wide Book Battle Committee creates a list of 20 books that includes a variety of genres and reading levels.

The Pattonville School District recognized staff and volunteers for their service and named its Teacher and Support Staff of the Year during District Appreciation Night on May 2. Take a look at this year’s honorees.

Three “Future Pirates” were honored today as graduates and 12 other students were celebrated as first and second year participants at the Pattonville High School play school graduation. 

High school teacher Tracie Olson introduced the students, described the skills they acquired and presented certificates to each student before a crowd of parents, friends and high schoolers enrolled in Child Development classes.
