High school student creates Pattonville Gives to help others

Pattonville High School junior Haley Edmonds and her friends wanted to make the holiday season a little better for families struggling financially. She approached the district with an idea and launched Pattonville Gives.

“Instead of buying gifts for each other, we wanted to be able to donate gifts to kids in need,” Edmonds said. “I thought that if I started something in the school district, it would help more people locally and that I would actually be able to help.”

Two seniors sign to play college athletics

Two Pattonville seniors signed letters of intent to play college-level athletics next year. Madison Bailey signed to further her softball and academic careers at Kaskaskia College, and Kaeli Benedict signed to play women’s soccer and pursue her degree at Missouri State University.

Six elementary authors recognized by St. Louis Writers Guild

Six Rose Acres Elementary School students were chosen as finalists in the 2020 St. Louis Writers Guild Young Writers Contest. Fourth graders Aliyah Brown and Eva Pulley and fifth graders Devin Garner, Audrey Holdren, Hannah Hope and Harrison Vandernoot will have stories they wrote included in an anthology published by the Writers Guild.

PHS students earn food service industry certification

Twenty-one students in Mary Favazza’s Introduction to Culinary Arts class at Pattonville High School completed the ServSafe Food Handler online course and passed the final exam to earn their ServSafe certification. ServSafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. Each student is now certified until 2023.
