Pattonville sponsors online series to support health and well-being

The Pattonville Community Action Team (PCAT) is offering “Healing the Cove,” a series of free online sessions designed to provide Pattonville families, staff and community members with information and support on a variety of topics related to mental health and well-being. Each month during the school year, PCAT will offer two online sessions on topics facing local families, such as coping with stress, suicide prevention for caregivers, getting control of your finances and helping your child with anxiety. Phase 2 Snow Day Information for High School Students:

Students should plan for:

  • 15 minutes of independent learning activities per class posted on the teachers Canvas page

  • 1 hour & 45 minutes of work for the day

Teachers will be available 2 hours to support student learning.  Hours will be posted on the teacher's Canvas and emailed to students/families.

Pattonville launches wellness website for mental health supports

Pattonville’s counseling staff created a website dedicated to mental health and wellness to provide resources and support students, staff and family members through the stress and anxiety brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“We know a healthy mind and body influences your stress levels and your ability to deal with stress,” said Michael Boulanger, counselor for the Positive School and alternative programs at Pattonville High School. Boulanger created the website with input and suggestions from other counselors in the district.

High school inducts 67 new NHS members

The Pattonville High School chapter of the National Honor Society inducted its newest members.

The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.

The application process was all online.

Parkwood art students complete collaborative mural at school

In-person and Villemade students at Parkwood Elementary recently completed a collaborative mural that was installed near the front lobby of the school. Students can interact with it and have their picture taken.

“We were inspired by Kelsey Montague who is an internationally-known street artist who creates interactive art,” art teacher Ms. Janel MacLean said.

Derby named Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award honoree

Dan Derby, Bridgeway Elementary fifth grade teacher and Pattonville's current Teacher of the Year, has been named by Emerson as a 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award honoree. He is one of 100 educators across the St. Louis metropolitan region recognized this year for demonstrating excellence in education and exceptional dedication to students. 

The annual program recognizes St. Louis area instructors, selected by their schools’ administrators, for their accomplishments and dedication to their students and the teaching profession.
