Mindy Ridings, secretary on the Pattonville Board of Education, announced she is resigning from the school board, effective Feb. 25, due to personal reasons. The board of education is now accepting applications from individuals interested in filling her position, which would be for one year.
Interested persons must submit an application packet to the secretary to the board of education by 4 p.m., March 15 in order to be considered for the vacant position. Application packets may be picked up from the secretary to the board of education at the Pattonville Learning Center, 11097 St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann. Packets are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and must be returned to the same location by the March 15 deadline. In the event of inclement weather, interested candidates should call (314) 213-8001 to inquire if district offices are open prior to picking up or returning an application packet.
In April, the board of education will review the applications of interested candidates and vote on the board’s appointment. The newly appointed board member is expected to be installed and sworn into office during the board’s April 12 meeting, along with board members elected to positions during the April 5 election.
Candidates for the board must be at least 24 years of age, a United States citizen and a resident taxpayer of the district. Service on the board of education is a volunteer position, and board members do not receive any pay for their service.
