The theme for Willow Brook’s celebration of Read Across America Week on March 2 was guest reader day. Fourth grade teacher Kim Dickinson invited custodian Mack Boyd in to read “Someone Builds the Dream,” one of the books featured in this year’s March Book Madness. 

Willow Brook Elementary is one of over 330 participating schools in this year’s bracket challenge. Dickinson’s class will next read “Sharice's Big Voice: A Native Kid Becomes a Congresswoman” and vote for their favorite book in the Sweet 16 match-up.

The 2021-2022 building-level Teacher of the Year (TOY) and Support Staff of the Year (SSOY) honorees were surprised by special presentations. Dr. Greg Cicotte has been announced as Pattonville’s new director of early childhood, effective July 1, replacing Dr. Mary Krekeler, who is retiring at the end of the school year. The Pattonville Board of Education approved Dr. Cicotte’s selection during a special meeting on Feb. 24.

Mindy Ridings, secretary on the Pattonville Board of Education, announced she is resigning from the school board, effective Feb. 25, due to personal reasons. The board of education is now accepting applications from individuals interested in filling her position, which would be for one year.
