Dear Pattonville families and staff,

As we approach the end of the first semester, I want to update you on upcoming changes to our health and safety protocols related to COVID-19. A recent ruling by a circuit court judge in Cole County has challenged the authority of state and local health officials’ ability to issue certain health orders. While the ruling has put into question the authority of local health departments, our school district’s authority and obligation to prevent the spread of contagious diseases remains unchanged. Pattonville has a legal obligation to prevent the spread of contagious disease in schools, which is supported by Missouri State Statutes 167.191 and 171.011, Pattonville Board of Education Policy EBB (Communicable Diseases) and a Missouri Supreme Court ruling (State ex. Rel. O’Bannon v. Cole).

When you add exercise and math together, it equals a fun review game played in Chelsey Wiersma’s second grade classroom at Willow Brook Elementary.

She created the nine math stations that require students to do an exercise and solve a word problem as a way to prepare for their unit test. 

“I have a very active group this year so I had to find a way to incorporate moving and working on math together,” she said. “This is the third time we’ve done this activity and they’ve really enjoyed it.”

J’Kiyah Teasley said it is a fun way to make her body and brain stronger. 

“I love exercising and I workout at my house all the time and it’s really cool because whenever you do it, your body gets stronger, and by working on math problems, I guess two things got stronger.”

Three Pattonville School District teachers earned their certification as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT).

Drummond Elementary second grade teacher Ashley Burd and first grade teacher Amber Wilson each earned certification in Generalist/Early Childhood and Remington Traditional English learner specialist Michele Hill achieved certification in English as a New Language/Early and Middle Childhood Path 2. 

NBCT is considered the gold standard in teacher certification and is designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. Certification is awarded by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), and NBCTs can keep their certification active by completing a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) every five years.

​​Please join The Pirate Code Leadership Team as we congratulate the 530 students with Zero tardies for the first semester.  These students are invited to attend our “No Tardy Party” this Wednesday, December 15, 2021 during each lunch period. The party for this grading period will include hot chocolate, cookies and brownies. No Tardy passes will be distributed by first hour teachers.

Únase al equipo de liderazgo de Pirate Code mientras felicitamos al 530 estudiantes con cero tardanzas durante el primer semestre. Estos estudiantes están invitados a asistir a nuestra "Fiesta sin tardanzas" este miércoles 15 de diciembre de 2021 durante cada período de almuerzo. La fiesta para este período de calificación incluirá chocolate caliente, galletas y brownies. Los maestros de primera hora no distribuirán pases de tardanza.

 

 Congratulations to the PHS Robotics Team. They competed in their first meet this weekend at Hazelwood Central and are now ranked 10th in their region. They were also a part of the highest scoring match with their teammates Hazelwood East!

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team will play Rock Bridge High School in the Norm Stewart's 48 Hours of Basketball Classic at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri tonight at 6pm.  The game will be live-streamed on ESPN Plus/ESPN3.  Good Luck Tonight Pirates!!!
